A note from the builder

Grindset is a one-person project. Built at the kitchen counter, between shots.

I built this because I wanted a shot logger that actually helped me improve, not just record. The spreadsheet I was using had no idea what machine I was on or what the bean tasted like.

Grindset is live and actively improving. If you find a bug or have an idea, reach out.

If you give it a shot (pun intended) and it helps you pull a better espresso, that's the whole goal.

Why I built this

I got tired of keeping a spreadsheet. I wanted something that actually thought with me, not just logged for me.
So I built Grindset

the morning ritual

Three steps to a better shot.

1

Pull the shot.

Start the timer, stop when done. Log dose, yield, and time.

2

Tell it how it tastes.

"Sour and thin" or "bitter and ashy". Plain English, not barista jargon.

3

Get the fix.

Grindset reads your shot, knows your machine, and tells you exactly what to change.

You say

“It's sour and acidic, kind of thin. Pulled in about 22 seconds.”

Dial In

Under-extracted. Short time, sour and thin all confirm it:

  • Go 2 clicks finer on your grind
  • Keep dose at 18g, same yield target
  • Aim for 27 to 30 seconds
  • Should bring out the blueberry sweetness

Spoiler: their shots are better now.

Worth upgrading from Encore to a flat burr?

Been pulling on my Encore for 2 years, thinking about the Lagom P64. Is the taste difference noticeable or am I just GAS-ing.
